Meet Hal
Hal, the founder and owner of Hal Otey Financial, has been providing wealth management and retirement planning services to the Greater Memphis area since 1987. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, Hal focuses on working with retirees and those preparing to retire, who are looking for ways to generate income, live comfortably, and enjoy financial confidence in their retirement years. Hal also works with younger clients who are serious about accumulating sufficient investment resources in planning for their retirement, as well as their families’ educational funding needs.
Hal is constantly looking for ways to better serve his clients and because of that mindset, Hal is now partnering with Carson Partners.
In addition to being a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, Hal’s professional designations also include Chartered Financial Analyst (ChFC). He is currently a member of the Greater Memphis Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, and he has served as a Board Member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.
Hal earned his Master’s degree from the University of Memphis in 1983. He is a classically trained operatic singer and was a founding member of the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble for nineteen seasons. Hal continues to pursue his passion for music and vocal performance at his church, concerts, and other performances in the the Memphis area throughout the year. Hal also enjoys tennis, swimming, skiing, golf, the performing arts, biblical studies, and the University of Memphis Tigers Basketball.
Hal and his wife Lorie have been married since 1982 and are the proud parents of their son Graham. They have been active members of New Life Fellowship Church since 1981, where Hal serves as an elder, a board member of both the finance and leadership teams, and as one of the leaders of the music team, since 1981.
